Electro Harmonix Metal Muff/ Top Boost

I may sound stupid saying this, but this pedal was "way too metal" for my taste. Too fizzy and didn't really go well with heavily down tuned music like doom and sludge metal. The top boost switch makes it even more screechy, and I didn't really see the point of it. Tried it both in and out of the effects loop, never found it to marry well with any of my amps unfortunately.

Also, within a year and with very little use of the pedal it broke. Won't make a sound but the LED works, and the pedal shows no obvious damage either externally or internally. Because I didn't really like the pedal I've never gotten around to fixing it, I'm sure it's fixable, but a pedal malfunctioning on me is not something I'd expect with mass manufactured pedals like these.
