I've been eyeing these guitars for a while now. Something just draws me to them. Yamaha brand and "Made in Indonesia" kept me a sceptic. After watching some reviews on the tube and listening to Chris Buck and the Andertons tests I ordered one. I knew I could just return it in worst case. My main guitar is an Anderson Pro Am so my standards are quite high at this point. And after trying and returning a Mexican made Tele, a Mexican made Charvel and a Chinese tele I wasn't really expecting much. Those guitars had sharp frets, major factory errors like crooked nut on the Charvel, cheap feeling overall and the Mexico tele detuned because of neck mismatch. Never again!
The shipping to Sweden was fast and smooth as always. I finally got the guitar in my hands and was totally blown away. Are you serious?
Thomann said they don't do setups - so straight from Indonesia the setup was perfect and it plays so nice. Low action without any rattle, intonated, fresh strings and everything just works. Extremely fun guitar to play. I played until 3:30 in the morning straight.
I love the pickups, sounds great however I play it. Clean and distorted, you bet. It has a roar to it playing in high gain (Engl Invader + SD-1). The neck is perfect for me who prefer modern C and the Anderson Even Taper. And it's satin! I sand all my guitars necks. Stainless frets as on my Anderson should be law by now.
People say this guitar is good or great "for the price", nah - it's great for a guitar.
I haven't mentioned the looks yet. It's just amazing. Perfect finish and color.
Only problem - I now want one more. Black or Hot Merlot?
