Probably the best VCA compressor for gluing a mix together.
Sound quality is superb. Also works on anything you run through it. Vocals, bass, drums etc
It is very clean sounding, almost to a point where its too clean. But for this, its easy to just use something else that adds more color if you're into that. I like to have the options, so for me it was a good choice in contrast with all my other gear that adds color.

It's THAT sound

I have been mixing my own productions in the box for almost a decade, usually into an emulated version of this compressor. There's something undeniable about the sound of this unit. It's subtle but there's a "polish" that this adds to the signal that's very musical and familiar. Compared to the top-shelf plug-ins I'd been using before this has seems to open up the stereo field a bit more and compress in a slightly groovier and "analogue" way.

Definitely recommended if you're looking for that SSL sound and glue. I didn't consider the other versions of this in the 500 series format but didn't feel the need to when SSL themselves can deliver this at a competitive price.

Nothing compare to the plugin versions. Real compression, it holds the signal very well, now I understand what is known as the glue. Go for it without doubts! Professional touch for finishing your tracks!
