I use this dongle with the lighting software Onyx and it works great. Onyx doesn't auto-discover it, but with a little knowledge about networking and IPs this shouldn't be a problem for anyone. If you don't know how that works maybe try a usb variant instead.
I simply set mine to a static IP, and plug directly into it from my laptops ethernet jack. Then I set my artnet broadcast to that IP.
It has a basic GUI in your browser that you can change the settings with, or with the onboard buttons.
I honestly believe this product is the go-to dongle for intermediate LDs. It's much more reliable than most USB dongles I've tried. As we all know most USB dongles use a USB micro port, and those tend to break(i've broken about 2 so far) but because this uses normal ethernet cabling all you need is an ethernet jack on your PC and you're good to go.
It does need its own separate power if not powered over PoE, but it's a pretty standard 12v adapter, which aren't hard to replace if it does break.
Good stuff.
