First of all, the clean sound is among the best I ever heard in a amp. I have Fender, Ampeg and Blues Cube amps and I never thought that Marshall could deliver such a nice cleanish sound. It’s not a clean sound that jazz players would die for but usable for most people that wants a warm nice kind of clean sound. The lead channel is great but if you are after a classic marshall sound ... no. This is not that, this is more like a marshall with a built in mxr distortion pedal. If you like that then this is an amp for you (I like that). I had the original combo back in the 80:s and I loved it and this one is even better, it’s built like tank, heavy as hell. Not as heavy as the original but heavy enough. The low and high switch works better than the original (pentod/triode) but in a band setting the 5 watt mode maybe isn’t enough regarding volume/roar. This isn’t the easiest amp dialing eq/volume settings and isn’t really a ”true” two channel amp even if I think it works perfect as a two channel amp. Try it,
Update: upgraded speaker, nothing wrong with the greenback but... The Jensen Stealth 65 is like made for this amp. Now I can use the treble/ presence more flexible. I tried a bunch of speakers, including C Rex Swamp Thang, ST was a good choice but to efficient comparing the Jensen, the C Rex was to bassy all over. Tornado 100 is a good choice to but the stealth is better (for this amp). When I need more volume I have an extra cab with ST or Jensen 100 T, but the volume is enough with the ”inefficient” Jensen Stealth. Do the efficient ST drown the Jensen? NO! I wonder how the manufacturers measure theese efficiency values? Theoreticly the ST is much more than double the volume compared to the Stealth. In theory maybe but not where I play.
