Heritage Audio i73 One

I was in the market for a better preamp to improve on those in my interface, but the idea of having a 1073 pre in a dsp interface at the same price kept on coming back to me. I was a bit put off at first by the previous review, but in the end I thought, what the hell, let’s give it a try.

Now, my experience with setting up the i73 has been flawless. I installed the provided drivers on both my MacBook Air and my Windows 11 desktop with no issues. The interface required a firmware update, but following the steps on the web site it was up and running in like 10 minutes.

As for the sound…what it does for vocals and guitars is simply amazing. Totally breathing life into the recordings. The user interface is also really comfortable to use and very intuitive as well, while the software mixer is extremely well thought out. The fact that I can use VSTs with it is incredible and it has an analog feel that I love. It took me a bit to realise that I can record with and without the internal processing, which is very helpful for sure(indeed).

I haven’t been able to use all the plugins yet, but at first impression they are, at least, something different and I like that. Looking forward to more plugins to be added to the collection.

Finally, it is built like a bulldozer. Really nice job Heritage! The Britstrip plugin sounds fantastic!

I found this audio interface on some websites and some people said it was perfect and cost effective. Some people say that the product positioning is very neutral. I'll give you my opinion. Post-purchase experience: When I received this item, first teased me about the cracked side panels. Some people say the reason is dry, others say heat, the power supply has heat. I think the material of this board is not very good, it seems that cracks are inevitable, it is just a matter of time and temperature. This may be the first problem you face. When the gain is turned on, the Beyerdynamic770Pro X for the display headset doesn't notice persistent underlying noise, but occasionally it does. I replaced it with better wires and got a cleaner, more balanced sound. Restart and get rid of static. Its microphone thrust can be said to be very good, and the sound performance is very rich. Unlike the others, this audio interface better improves its dynamic input sensitivity. The thrust of the headset was very good, and since I needed to switch between multiple devices, I bought a low-impedance headset, but it performed well and was quite violent, so I recommended getting a high-resistance headset.
I downloaded the driver through the Heritage website, and activating the plugin was a tedious process. I left it out. Then I had problems setting up and debugging. First, it is an interface that others hear on one side when selecting it for recording or as a studio listener. While mono stereo is like that, there should be a better way to solve it. My previous devices have been switched by MONO with one click. The problem with this mono button is that it can only change the sound you hear yourself, but it doesn't change the sound recorded into the software. Pressing the button also changes the accompaniment sounds being monitored, affecting their sound field and making them very blurry. This may be a propaganda and listen to the simulation, with the accustomed headphones I can not accept. None of the sound cards I have purchased have had this problem, which I think is a bad thing. Unilateral occurrence is not a problem for professional audio masters. To solve this problem, you only need to use the third-party jumper software to work normally. Although the built-in software has a recording channel, it cannot record, you can only hear but not load the plug-in sound, so the original driver software does not make any sense. You must have other host software and jumper software to connect and debug it properly. If you don't have the software you're not going to be able to use it or you're going to be stuck with it and that's a very important point. The output channel of the system can be changed, the input channel cannot be changed This is a fully integrated usb channel with no splitting. I hope the engineers can solve these problems later. If you are a professional tuner, this is not a problem. There is no need to purchase these hosting software separately. These are need to consider, buy audio interface free plug-in is very good but should let us also be simple to use. But for professional tuners, this audio interface is not very attractive, because his standalone voice player is also good. If non-professionals want better microphone gain and many audio interface upgrades also do 70db or higher, you only need to consider whether the I73 dyeing is worth it. These questions should be a good reference. Rugged housing, easy operation and powerful driver software may be the mainstream of home audio interfaces now.
