I put these in my Gretsch 5410T.
Why: The original potentiometers were linear, i.e. the sweep was very short - going from full to 9/10 on any of them pretty much rolled off all volume.
There?s of course a technical explanation, but the short version is - if you want a linear volume or tone control you use a logarithmic/audio potentiometer.
Pros: Simply put they?re good quality, I?ve used CTS potentiometers in a lot of guitars over the last 25 (or so) years - all of them are still in use & working well.
Cons: Technically I can?t think of any, environmentwise maybe they should be sold without the pinpack/packaging (cardboard/plastic).
