Fishman Power Tap Earth

I had big hopes for this thing, but after half a day of fooling around with it, I have to admit I just don't like it.

The "tap" part of the pick-up sounds weak on my guitar, I have to turn the blend all the way to tap to get enough of that percussive effect, and even then, my strings easily overpower it unless I am bashing my guitar senseless. I thought the entire point was to be able to play these with subtlety. For 300 euros I was expecting a lot better, and I wish I had kept them for something else. I am sure I did the installation correctly.

Moreover, the humbucker ends up higher than the action of my strings, which means that it produces an audible note (a tritone away from the open string) when I click my thumb against the strings. That makes my playing actively worse than having the pick-up my guitar was pre-equipped with...

I have seen reviews out there where this thing sounded good. I will keep at it and if I manage to get a good sound out of it I will come back and update this review.

The price of this pick up is higher than other famous brand eg: K&K, LR Baggs. First i buy this as the reason of this pickup can collect the percussive sound good.after i install and use it around 30mins,one of the pick up volume suddenly drop down.i think maybe is the original battery ran out so that i brought a new battery .After that same problem happen within 3 days.i told this to the guitar shop and the repair guy said is the hardware problem not related to the install process.I return this product and request for refund / replace a new product.Thomann don't accept and just arrange me a new repair service .after waiting for half month i received it.the letter from thomann said that they test it 20min and notthing happen so they just sent this back for me.ARE YOU GUYS BLIND?i describe the problem detaily and wait for a long time.This is the final result what i got.such a terrible shit drama.

I bought this after trying a combination of soundboard transducer and fishman rare earth humbucker. it was a great combination that gave me the kind of sound that I wanted, but it also gave me huge amounts of feedback.

The Power Tap promised the same level of soundboard sensitivity but in a system designed for the purpose. it works really well - but I've lost some of the detailed top-end that I was getting from the transducer pickup. Taps sound great.

All in all, I think this is a fantastic pickup for anybody who hits their guitar, but it might be lacking in a tiny bit of nuance for anybody who doesn't need tap noises. For the ultimate, Fishman should wire in a mic with a 3-way blend - or maybe humbucker on one channel with a blend of tap/mic on the other channel.
