I use Evans E-Mad for BATTER head, and it gives my Premier Artist Birch 18" kick a lot of extra bass, and lots of positive remarks from sound engineers at live venues.
This E-Mad RESONANT head sounds great too (without too many other 18" heads (with a hole) to compare with.), however quality-wise this head have a weak spot: the plastic keeping the damper-material in place around the hole, has shown fragile. After a few sound technicians put their arms inside to place microphones, the plastic has broken on several places, resulting in unwanted noise. I've done my best to fix it, but I don't want to worry about it breaking even more, bothering engineers about being careful with the mic-hole.
Conclusion:
Great sound but not durable. Probably works well in a studio, if you're careful, but not rough enough for concerts. I'm in need of a new head after a few gigs, so this head wasn't really worth the money.
