Electro Harmonix Battalion

I've been using the battalion in a metal band for the last months, and it has been doing exactly what I needed out of it.

I struggled a bit with finding the right settings and signal path, but I ended up with a live sound that would make my bass easily audible in the mix. The EQ frequencies on the unit worked perfectly to shape the sound to cut through the guitars without adding any mud to the sound.

On the negative side, it can easily amplify any noise in your signal path, and the noise gate has about a one second closing time, which means that (at least with my sound) there's one second of loud hissing at the end of every song.
