I bought it to my other brand guitar to match my Gibson Les Paul in sound. It is overall quite simular to Bursbucker Pro in gain and sound. At least so close that you dont need to adjust the settings between guitars.
I put two of these into a 1995 PRS Custom that I bought, a previous owner had removed the original pickups. I play a lot of high gain stuff, these pickups have a bite somewhere in the upper mids, sounds glorious through a cranked Marshall Super Lead! By the way, these are often described as bridge pickups, but there are no rules about such things. I put one in the neck position, it is hot so I lowered the height a bit, but it pairs very nicely with another one at the bridge.

Ich habe den DP223 in der Steg Position meiner 70er Jahre Greco Les Paul Copy eingebaut und konnte damit meinem Wunschsound, dem klassischen Les Paul Ton der 50er sehr nahe kommen.
Der DP223 bringt genau diese eigentlich gegensätzlichen Charakterzüge eines PAF Pickups mit und klingt kraftvoll, fett, durchsetzungsfähig und transparent/drahtig zugleich. Auch (und vorallem) im cleanen und leicht angezerrten Bereich kann der Dimarzio PAF seine Qualitäten ausspielen wobei modernere Doppelspuler oft komprimiert und muffig klingen. Bei höheren Verzerrunggraden bleibt der Pickup definiert und bei Sololinien kann er richtig singen.
Fazit: eine tolle PAF Interpretation von Dimarzio die mit teureren Boutiquepickups durchaus mithalten kann!

Paf 36 oli todella onnistunut valinta ja siitä lähtee todella rouhea ääni. Soitan paljon Kissiä ja tämä mikrofoni sopii siihen todella hyvin, kuulostaa selkeästi enemmän Kissiltä kuin Super distortion. Upea, aika matala soundi, kovaääninen ja saa paljon säröä aikaan vahvistimessa. Todella mukava soittaa ja jätti Super distortionin varjoonsa.
