Behringer Pro-1

The pro-1 isn't the easiest analog synth for a beginner, and has a few quirks that could throw off even an experienced synth user. However, getting past the eccentricities there isn't much to wish for in this synth.
Great sound, lots of direct control, great build quality, good price and did I mention it sounds great?
The only downside to this product is that any firmware update requires it to be connected to Behringers Synth Tools app. I understand that this app has several features not accessible by other means, such as midi-clock internal/external, and I would have liked to see some way to change these settings that doesn't require me to download an app.
For the price you cant beat it.

Jag har alltid viljat ha en Pro One efter ha testat en hos en kompis för ett 20-tal år sen. Dock så tyckte jag inte om byggkvalitén på den gamla och problemet med glappande j-wire i klaviaturen. Men detta drabbas man inte av här.

Jag måste säga att ljudmässigt och kvalitetsmässigt är detta ett kap. Visst är den mer komprimmerad i storlek än originalet. Men det gör inte mig något. Ett kanonköp om du frågar mig.

Den enda nackdelen jag kan se är att sequencer och arpeggiator bara funkar med MIDI pluggarna och inte med USB Midi. Detta kanske Behringer fixar med en mjukvaruuppdatering.

Being a huge fan of the original Pro-One sound for many years (and realising the utter futility of ever affording the real deal) I knew I just had to get this as soon as I saw it announced. 1,5-ish years of impatiently awaiting its arrival I finally have it in my hands, does it live up to the hype?

From my first day impression I'll have to say yes, its worth the wait! The Pro-1 does a commendable job at recreating the huge, punchy sound we all know and love in a *much* more desk/backpack friendly format. Apart from all the original features it there's a paraphonic "poly" mode, built in USB/DIN MIDI as well as a few extra patchpoints, and while it still can't be considered semi-modular in this regard, they are nonetheless an appreciated bonus.

Build quality is decent, in line with midrange offerings you'll get from the likes of Korg, Arturia etc but it won't compete with the build or finish of something like a Moog (which is understandable). Time will ofc tell how durable these things really are.

If you're looking for a versatile workhorse mono with a big analog sound, don't hesistate, its a bargain!
