I've used this mic on a few different sources, and for me I think it shines the most when close miced on toms and snare. Due to it's side adress design, placement of the mic becomes a breeze. It's easy to fit in tight squeezed kits. It has a reasonably good off-axis rejection, and being a condeser mic, the bleed that does get through from the cymbals does not come across as abrasive or harsh sounding as from say a 421. I've also used it on acoustic guitar, and while it does the job, it's not a favorite mic for said task.
