Wittner Violin Stringwinder 4/4 - 3/4

The stringwinder feels very good in hand and it helps winding the strings on the violin, but with a little effort you can do it without it. Anyway I use it because it's a nice feel and the strings gets on the peg more even.

I was disappointed with the Wittner Violin stringwinder as it is very easy to slip out as the violin peg is being wound, even when initially pushed in as it should be. This is particularily a problem when winding the Wittner fine tuning pegs with a gear ratio of 8:1 as they take a lot of tuning to bring the string up to pitch when they are initially fitted. The device needs some locking device when first inserted on the peg.
