I really like the current line of SSL DAW controllers since my wrists aren't what they used to be due to age and working in the metal industry (both on stage AND a workshop haha!) for a long time.
None of the other controllers felt really like what I needed when looking around the interwebs for alternatives, so on a whim I first bought the UF8 which was great and when the UC1 came out it felt logical to get it too. I also have the UF1, the trio works very nice together, I have them all hooked up in series to one USB2 port.
Pros
As mentioned it saves my wrists (that have taken a lot of abuse over the years) from having to use a mouse (which often results in arthritic problems for me after extended use) + I don't look at numbers as often as I used to when mixing.
Apart from the knobs and the meter cover everything is made from metal which makes it very sturdy and stable on the table.
Cons
AFAIK it only works with SSL:s own channelstrip plugins and the bus compressor plugin. A little flexibility towards both other maker's channelstrips and SSL's other plugins wouldn't hurt.
The supplied tilt legs could be a bit taller IMO, I solved it by builing a wooden frame that's a bit thicker/higher under the legs to hold the UF8, UC1 & UF1 together and tilt them a little bit more.
