I use this pair of MKH 8040 all the time when recording sound effects and ambiences. In my sound effects recording room I particularly enjoy that they capture frequencies up to 50 kHz so during sound design pitch down manipulation they keep fidelity in the high frequency range since previously inaudible sound is brought into audible range. I've put together a video comparing what difference the 50 kHz makes compared to most microphones that capture up to 20 kHz: ambiences I use this pair of microphones in ORTF configuration in a Rycote Blimp.
Very manageable size, great build quality and they sound great. Quite price, however.
