I bought these to use for dropped tuning on my Ibanez srff800. Due to the multi scale, I was looking to try larger gauge strings and tune down for some large low end bass vibrations. Ive been using this whole set tuned down to D for a few months now, and they are great. I play reggae and these provide a great sound and feel.
Please be aware that these strings are also higher tension due to their large gauge, stiffer to play, if you are considering larger gauge strings.
Multi scale instruments can help with the string tensions when using alternate tuning and(or) larger gauge strings.
I've been using Rotosound strings for about 6 years now, I've tried many other brands and gauges but I always seem to go back to these Rotosound RB50's because I love the fresh, bright tone they have when you first put them on a bass. The tone lasts about 2 months even for me (And I play for around 4-5 hours most days). I have always found that Nickel strings have a overall nicer tone and feel to them as opposed to steel strings because steel strings feel quite dry and sound fairly dull even when they are new.
I would definitely advise everyone to at least give these a go whether you're a beginner or a pro, you may find your new favourite strings!
Well, I adjusted the nut, put them on, and man oh man, the 45-105's from other brand that were before these, I didn't need to adjust the truss rod, they sound beefy, clear, without more tension. We shall see how long they last, I usually change strings once in two months.
Adequate basic strings. I use these in a basic long scale bass. They sound decent but alas wear out surprisingly fast, losing treble. The feel is good for this type of string.
I was disappointed. Maybe they are OK for playing Jazz or Blues, but for grunge, metal and Punk music you should avoid these, as they don't deliver the punch you need so much. I changed them after few reps, so hard to tell anything about durability.
I bought these to replace a set on a second hand Ibanez bass I bought. I play more fingerstyle and (combined with the bass's internal electronics, an EQ pedal, and a Trace Elliot amp) the strings give a nice smooth sound. I've used rotosound's on my acoustic guitar's for years, and their bass strings haven't disappointed.
A great set of strings, at a great price.
Great set of strings for my jazz bass. this is not the 1st time i am using them, but it is 1st time i ordered from here. so far, i have always been happy with quallity and sound, and i plan on buying them again in the future
