I bought two of these in order to use my KAT KTMP1 Multipad as a portable drum kit (Controlling the hi-hat and the bass drum respectively). All in all, it's working well, and since they are actually keyboard pedals, I have used one of them as a spare when I forgot my regular sustain pedal.
Update: The pedals broke after a little bit over a month of regular and careful use. I would not recommend it unless you're seriously low on money and need a cheap pedal for one or two gigs.
Pros
- The price is very low, meaning that you don't have to fret too much in case one is stolen, broken, or lost.
- The small size makes it easy to fit in virtually any bag or box, or even in your pocket.
- Each pedal comes with three interchangeable rubber covers; red, grey, and black. This means that you, if you have several for different purposes, can colour coordinate your pedals for easy access, and if not, can switch as you please to make it feel fresh longer.
- It does not move around very much, and is surprisingly sturdy for the price.
- A polarity switch is conveniently located right above the wire for quick access, making it easy to use with Akai keyboards, which for some reason often have reverse polarity.
Cons
- They are not very comfortable; and while they are more comfortable as drum controllers than as sustain pedals, they are a bit awkward to use either way.
- As they are pedals rather than controllers, they are not velocity sensitive. This is normally not an issue with a pedal, but since surprisingly many people are using this as a drum controller, it's worth noting.
- They break quickly. I used mine for about a month and a half, before they broke, and are unusable.
- They are not very silent. If you are using headphones, your room mates will definitively hear the clicking.
- Because of their minuscule size, they are easily misplaced under your feet; which can lead to issues with your playing style..
All in all, they are cheap and small, but there are much better ones out there.
