It's a really nice introduction to learning how synths work. It's a lot of fun to play around with and sounds very good for what it is, it's difficult to get a "bad" sound out of it. You can even play it from an external MIDI keyboard. It feels a lot like a toy though rather than a serious instrument. If you're interested in making new sounds you will outgrow it quickly.
I think you're supposed to have the whole Volca family, connect them together and make some minimal acid. I only got this one though and didn't try syncing it with anything. Didn't get along well with the sequencer, but it might work better if you have a steady beat from another machine to guide you.
I enjoyed it but ended up selling mine after a couple of months and upgraded to a microKORG.
