I absolutely love the solid build and quality of the Player, which is a piece of German engineering at its finest. The built-in tuner, stomp keys, and overall construction are fantastic.
The only downside is the software and the absence of a small screen to display the selected profile. This means I have to rely on an app, which unfortunately isn't very reliable on iPhone and iPad OS. The Bluetooth functionality for streaming music from my phone works great, and the MacOS app for the profile library is also impressive. However, when streaming music, I can't use the same phone to check the active profile, so I need an additional device, which is a bit frustrating.
There are plenty of profiles to choose from, and the included ones are really good. I've also found some excellent free profiles online. While some people may complain about the limited number of effects, I don't find it to be an issue as I can use pedals alongside it.
I'm extremely pleased with this for playing hard rock and metal. It has everything I need. Although it's not cheap, it's definitely worth it compared to having to replace multiple amplifiers. I'm reassured by Kemper's support for the software of their other Kemper Profiles, which makes me confident that they will also improve the software for this one for at least another decade. This is something you can't say about most software!
If you can find this one on sale, it is the best value for money you can get. Even with the lack of a screen, which would have made it a 10/10.
