Only used for an hour so can't really tell anything about durability, but it looks and feel sturdy.

Such a perfect tool to dampen the sound when you need it. No screws or anything, just slip it on.

I strongly recommend this to all new banjo players (like myself). A banjo can be so loud, but still you need to learn to play it right. You have to learn to pick it with the same "attack/strength" as you would in real.

Trying to play a banjo silent will harm the way you're picking and probably the way you hold the instrument and hand as you're trying to play silent. This tool really helps with that!

But don't expect it to be super-silent, maybe 50% reduction or so.

Pros:
- Easy to put on/take off.
- Not in the way when playing.
- It increases sustain.
- Cheaper than the Deering one but with the exact same function.

Cons: It decreases the perceived volume a bit but not as much as I had hoped for (I estimate it to 25% or so). It mostly scoops out the mid register with lower and upper register still prominent. When digging in the sound becomes slightly distorted. It is not very pleasant sounding to my ears. Also the velcro sheds.

It does mute the sound a good bit. It is easy to use, and I use it on a regular basis in my apartment without disturbing neigbours nor my wife:) Purpose fulfilled!
