I own several guitars in a variety of finishes and was keen to see if there was a polish suitable for ALL types of topcoat. Having done my research, I was wary of using polishes containing silicone (as found in many ordinary household furniture polishes) as it can affect nitro/acrylic topcoats and can cause difficulties should you need to refinish a guitar in later years.
I found the Gibson brand was well recommended and suitable for my needs and decided to order. You get quite a large bottle for your money (118ml) and has quite a pleasant smell when spraying onto a cloth before applying to your finish. The smell only lingers for 20mins or so.
It does polish to a good natural shine ? I would not say a high gloss finish, but ?clean? looking (It does not leave any residue or stickiness and so is suitable for applying to necks). The bottle also claims ?the polish adds a trace amount of lacquer to help replenish and seal your instruments finish... Also can be applied to metal components without fear of damage.?
I use this on several types of finish (nitrocellulose, acrylic and polyurethane) and am pleased with the results.
