Background: I have played bass since 1996, I have good instruments and amplification. My current band plays modern blues/rock and my main bass is a MIA Fender Jazz.
This is my absolute favorite string for a more modern, big sound and probably the best compromise I have ever tried (and I have tried many strings!).
Tension and stiffness is slightly higher than average, so it is easy to play quick runs with clarity, but you need to attack the strings a bit harder than with a typical nickel string.
The sound is superb: big, clear lows with great sustain. Rich, aggressive mids that cut through, regardless if you play fingerstyle or slap. Top end is balanced and a little "dirty". If you want super clean, glassy top end, this might be the wrong string.
Life time seems good, and it has been the thinner strings that have died first on me, but the low end has remained almost as good as new, even after months of use.
Highly recommended!
