Digitech Whammy 5

Den 5:e whammyn i Digitechs serie är i mina ögon den bästa de har tillverkat hittills. De första generationerna som cirkulerar på begagnatmarknaden nu är överprisade så att det skriker om det, och de allra senaste har inte låtit helt bra (Whammy 4) eller bara varit alldeles för stora för att ta en plats på pedalbordet (Whammy DT). Whammy 5 är i storlek lite mindre än 4:an och man sparar värdefull plats på bordet. Chassit är i metall och är extremt stryktåligt. Ljudkvaliten i den här pedalen är den allra bästa hittills. Man kan välja mellan två olika modes: Classic är det klassiska ljudet som har funnits länge och som man älskat, och den nya Chords som till min stora glädje gör att man kan spelar flera toner samtidigt utan att ljudet "glitchar ur". Precis som de äldre så finns det gott om olika intervaller som pedalen kan röra sig emellan, och med detune-funktionen så kan man få till ett riktigt snyggt chorus-aktigt ljud. Allt som allt så rekommenderas den här pedalen stort, för den är riktigt riktigt bra.

The Digitech Whammy is an amazing pedal. One of the best purchases I made since I started playing. Period.
Since I got it, it has changed the way I approach writing, which tunings I choose, and fixed my creative rut.
While this model does not include the DT part, it still holds it's own with all the modes it offers.
I gave the sound 4 stars since the tone changes veeery slightly when I engage the pedal. It's as if you mixed about 5-10% of a coil-split in the signal. This is only noticable when playing directly through it, though, and does not seem to affect the DI. Strange, I know, but whatever. It works, and oh boy how it works. I also always leave it in "chords" mode. No idea why, but it sounds like everything translates a bit better. Also feels better for some reason.

If I were to choose between this model and it's big brother today, I'd choose the big brother with it's DT (cuz more options, duh). But you can get a whole lot of mileage out of this thing if you're creative with what tunings you choose.
