I've gone from an old quality wooden bow, to a budget generic Chinese carbon fibre option (Carbondix if I recall correctly). Over the summer 2024 I whet my appetite with the CodaBow Prodigy, and while I still find purposes for it, I'm very happy with my decision to upgrade to the Diamond GX. For me, it was a very expensive purchase, and one that I'll expect will remain in my case for the rest of my life. On the surface it only has small differences compared to the Prodigy, but any seasoned player should find that the Diamond GX's balance and design is much more adapted to hands that expect to control the movement rather than have the movement controlled. It does what I want without effort and brings forth a good sound. It has enough weight to throw down some convincing chops and dig into the strings without having to push hard, but still feels quick and responsive.
Of course the main purpose of going for carbon is that it will never warp or drop tension in high humidity conditions.
My only caveats are purely aesthetic. The finishing on the tip of the bow was not well executed. Whereas the Prodigy is clad with brushed metal, the Diamond could've used something similar, but instead has a piece of ivory (resin) that looks like it been shaped in place with a utility knife. The grip thread on my article also had a bit of booger soldering action going on that had not quite been filed flat. An ugly stray hair pokes out from the tip wedge. Is it reasonable to expect this level of attention to detail? For a product from a bow-maker in general, I think yes, as I would for any handmade item at this price point.
