Maybe pricey - but worth it

I use the Alnico Cream in a '67 Deluxe Reverb, the original speaker was gone long time ago when I bought the amp.

Compared to the Alnico Gold the Cream has a tighter low end to my ears and roughly the same mids & high end. I've tried about a dozen speakers in this amp, JBL, Jensens, various Celestions - after almost 20 years with the Deluxe I think the Cream and the Gold are my favourites.

Pros: Very nice sound and louder/more sensitive than a lot of other speakers reducing the need for a more powerful amp.

Cons: A bigger magnet equals more weight, not a biggie though.
Might need a bit of breaking in - as most replacement speakers.
Maybe a bit pricey - but worth it IMO.

Should have bought this one years ago

For years I use to play with a Marshall cabinet with 2 G12T-75. I spend loads of money on pedals and pickups and while I still enjoy each of those purchases the biggest impact has been this speaker.

The clean sound is so much better, smooth is the best word to use. Also with overdrive the speaker is so much well defined. There is more clarity compared to the G12 and I am cutting better through the mix. Our usual sound engineer loves this speaker. Without me telling I bought this he straight away asked how did I improve my sound so much.
I got a small open cabinet that suits this speaker just fine. Have not tried this with a closed back.
At first the speaker was a bit bright but after adjusting my setup things improved for the better. Compared to other speakers I tried the gold makes them sound "bland".

I now have this speaker in use for over a year, so I am not writing this in the honeymoon period. It is reliable, has a great tone and this one speaker has replaced my 2x12 Cabinet so it also is better for my back!

I highly recommend this speaker if you play rock, blues or funk. It is not cheap but worth every penny! 5 stars

Best Speaker Ever!

I bought it in the middle of various experimentations in the speaker section and the moment it arrived i stopped experimenting. Tight lows, sweet and round highs and extremely efficient. Paired it with a Creamback 75w 8Ohms in an open-back 2x12 and since then I am having the best sounds I have ever had. Built quality is top of the line. This thing feels expensive and worth every cent. Period.

Quality & Sound

Great quality build and awesome sound. Pair it to the right amps and you get astonishing sounds, I use it with JTM 45 (handwired metropoulos schematic) and it rocks! Great speaker and high wattage. If you want an alnico speaker, this is the one!
